While I don't have any snowperson images in my collection, I do have snow photos, my mother is Canadian after all.

All of these photos come from my grandfather's albums. These are photos of family, taken at home in Thetford Mines, Quebec.

My great-uncle, William John White "Pin" Smith
My great-aunt Frances Ruth Smith
My great-aunt Lucy Hamilton Smith

These photos were taken around the campuses of Bishop's College School and King's Hall Compton in Lennoxville. Some are just taken in the snow.

But these more accurately reflect my take on the theme, Fun in the Snow.

These photos make me cold just looking at them, and now it's time to walk the dog, so out into it I go!

  1. My favorite of these snow photos is "Pin" Smith wearing that adorable hat and ready to jump on his old-fashioned sled.

    1. He was a cutie, I have more photos of him about that age, he's adorable, but the outfit is priceless.

  2. Fabulous photos! I think my favorite is the second of the campus pics ... the fur muff is great!

  3. I kept thinking of the term "bundled up" when I saw your post...some are more bundled than others, but all of them are staying warm!

  4. I remember there was a time limit of being outside in the snow...though I don't know what it was. And then the mittens, scarves and hats came off and hung around smelling like wet wool for the next few hours, drying on some heat source or another. Boots were by the door on newspaper, dripping away!

    1. Yes, I remember that smell very well. Our radiators are in the wall now, but we dried our wet things on the radiator when I was little.

  5. Lovely vintage photographs of your family amid snow. I have only one such snowy photograph of my family of my father, taken in the winter of 1944, when he was stationed in Luxembourg.

  6. Wonderful pictures, all. But my favorite has to be of your great uncle 'Pin' Smith in that neat cap with the dangling pom-pom. What a cutie! ('Pin' - and the cap as well)

    1. I agree. And although I'm grateful for all of the photos, the family photos are my favorites.

  7. This is a great group of snapshots. Fun is the key element. And the little elf on a sled in the first shot is so cute!

  8. I agree, your great uncle looks like a very cute little fellow, and mischevious with it. I wonder what those skiers from long ago would think of today's skisuits etc.

    1. I wish I'd heard stories of my great-aunts and uncles as children, I wonder if my mother knows what kind of kids they were.

  9. Thank you for sharing these photographs from your grandfather’s album, and I think Pin deserves to be on a Christmas card!

    1. Funny you say that. That is about the first thing I did with these, I featured Uncle Pin on some Christmas cards that I sent to his descendants about six years ago.
